Developer Support Engineer

Would you enjoy the challenge of redefining the cloud competitive domain?

Now is your chance to join a newly created team in Galway that is tasked with building a large-scale, enterprise-ready platform that will power a hybrid edge-to-cloud suite of services.

This innovative cloud stack will drive transformation across data, connectivity, and security and offers you the chance to apply your creative skills to contribute to architecting and building this enterprise platform.

As part of this new team, our client now requires a Developer Support Engineer

Responsibilities:

Our Developer Support Engineers work with our customers every day. They are the main interface between customers and our engineering organization. In this role, you will take on challenging issues that our customers face, working together with other engineers towards a resolution.

As a Developer Support Engineer, you can shape our customers' experiences with our products, as well as help define our support processes. You should be comfortable where systems, deep learning, customers, and engineering intersect.

Requirements:

    • Strong skills in at least one scripting/programming language (preferably Python).
    • Very comfortable with Unix/Linux systems.
    • Able to dive into code, handle customer escalations, and drive to resolution in a timely manner.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on documentation.
    • Demonstrable focus on the customer, including the ability to see past individual break/fix incidents to understand the customer’s setup and requirements, and the ability to build relationships with customer engineers.
    • Ability and desire to occasionally work in the Determined codebase to tackle bug fixes, supportability improvements, and features.

Preferred:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
    • Minimum of 5 years + experience.
    • Experience with containerization technology (Docker, etc.).
    • Experience with relational databases.
    • Experience writing or ingesting REST endpoints.
    • Theoretical knowledge of machine learning is desired, but not required.
    • Knowledge of at least one cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
    • Curiosity/interest in continuous learning to stay at the forefront of challenges that can be addressed through AI.

Our Engineering Process:

We use two-week engineering sprints to strike the right balance between execution and evaluating priorities. We structure our collaboration around projects: The project lead is an individual contributor directly responsible for the execution of the project, including planning the technical solution, coordinating work with other engineers, and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Engineering managers ensure project leads at all levels of their careers have the support and guidance they need to fulfill these responsibilities effectively.

All code is reviewed by members of the team, following a specific set of guidelines to reduce ambiguity and drive to shipping efficiently.

    • Python
    • Golang
    • React
    • TypeScript
